Michael Z. Newman / University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee

Michael Z. Newman is a Professor in the Department of English and the programs in Film Studies (BA) and Media, Cinema, and Digital Studies (MA/PhD) at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and writes about popular American media. His books include Indie: An American Film Culture (Columbia UP, 2011), Legitimating Television: Media Convergence and Cultural Status (co-authored with Elana Levine; Routledge, 2011), Video Revolutions: On the History of a Medium (Columbia UP, 2014), Atari Age: The Emergence of Video Games in America (MIT Press, 2017), and The Media Studies Toolkit (Routledge, 2022).
